Manufacturing client is divesting all non-core operations and the internal lab is on the block. Client contacts IMR to see what outsourcing all of their work would cost and what the delivery cycle for results would be. It becomes obvious that outsourcing would be impossible for about 2/3’s of their work due to the time sensitive nature of it. IMR presents choices as potential solutions to their dilemma.
1. Lab Staffing: IMR provides staffing on site, possibly by rehiring the existing staff through a divestiture arrangement and managing the personnel side for them to cover the critical on-site work. Client is responsible for managing supplies and lab assets. All other work would be off loaded to the nearest IMR facility. 2. Lab Management: IMR provides staffing as above, but manages all aspects of lab operations. IMR orders supplies, maintain calibrations, repairs equipment, and essentially runs the lab without owning the assets or leasing the space. Non-essential work is sent to other IMR Facilities. 3. Lab Ownership: IMR purchases the entire lab operation from the client, equipment, inventory, and pays rent on the lab space. IMR operates either as a completely independent, on premises lab (taking in outside work) or simply as a captive, privately held subcontractor that serves the client only. 4. Hybrid solution: We work with you to come up with a solution that makes sense for your unique situation and business.
