Creep & Stress Rupture Testing Services
In extreme thermal environments, materials behave differently under constant mechanical loads. Creep and stress rupture testing evaluate a material or component's ability to safely sustain a long-term load at elevated temperatures and specific humidity levels without failing.
These high-temperature tests are critical for manufacturers in high-stakes industries, including aerospace, power generation, and heavy industrial manufacturing.
Creep vs. Stress Rupture: What is the Difference?
While both tests evaluate high-temperature material longevity, they capture different critical data points:
- Creep Testing: Measures continuous material deformation (strain) over time under a constant load and temperature, concluding when the material ultimately ruptures.
- Stress Rupture Testing: Measures only the total time it takes for the material to break or fracture under a specified load and temperature. It does not track mid-test deformation.
